Where to eat?

About and data

Where to eat? helps you choose where to eat in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area: pick an area, say what you feel like, and let the app decide, or vote with friends. It is free, has no ads and needs no account.

Where the places come from

  • Main places: more than 10,000 places mapped by volunteers. The data is refreshed automatically on the 1st of every month.
  • Less verified places: extra places from a second source. They stay hidden unless you switch them on, and are marked “less verified”.
  • Ratings and photos are not stored here: the links open Google Maps.

Please check before you go

Volunteer-mapped data can be out of date: a place may have closed, moved or changed its hours, and public holidays are not taken into account.

If a place has closed, tap Closed? to hide it for yourself; if you confirm, we also get a short note and check it. For anything else that is wrong (name, address, opening hours…), use Report a problem and fill in the short form. Reports are reviewed by hand.

Your data

Your starred, excluded and visited places, your lists, your private notes and star ratings, and your settings are kept in your browser on this device.

Nothing about them is sent anywhere.

If you sign in or vote online, your account, synced lists and notes, votes and problem reports are stored in an online database (Supabase).

The map pictures come from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which see your IP address and the part of the map you look at. Google Maps and OpenStreetMap are contacted only if you tap a link to them. If you report a problem, the report is stored in our database in the EU together with a random ID for your browser; your email is optional. The site is served through Cloudflare; fonts and icons are hosted here.
